Hello. I am wondering if anyone here has eloped and where they did it. Also, what was the amount of $ you dropped for it? My lady and I are looking to elope instead of doing the wedding thing and what not. We are both 28 (no pics you deeks) and figure it would be better to save (for a house) the wedding money instead of spending all of it for one night. Thanks!

Considering it's a girl's childhood dream to one day get married in front of her family and friends I completely understand. screw that. Who likes a reception anyways.

I've eloped. Just went to someone who was certified, paid him $70 and he performed the ceremony in his back yard.

You have to get a marriage license like 3 days prior tho, so do that first haha.

Definitely less stressful and you can always renew later.

Not worth risking the wrath of family members. Have a nice, small wedding.

Just make appointment with Justice of the Peace and get your marriage license done on the Downlow. Plan it so you go on a trip to some tropical resort the next week. They can set you up with a little ceremony on a beach with a pastor and what not. Put the ring on and post pics. That way you'll actually be legally married here in the states by the time they see the pics on FB and shite. That's a newer accepted form of eloping called Destination Wedding. If you want, invite a few close family/friends and say pay your own way.

Otherwise go to Vegas and do that route.

Would've gone to Vegas for a cheesy Elvis chapel wedding if we eloped though.

We did.

Paid justice of the peace 30 bucks to process the paperwork at his house the day after thanksgiving.

We drove to the middle of the desert. There was no one but us within 5 or more miles. We said our vows on top of a mountain. To each other. No cameras. No witnesses. I think we were both dressed in hilariously warm clothes as it was below zero.

It was a beautiful spot.

We seem to be doing okay so far. Her mother and grandmother hate me, but my wife chose to elope. I just chose the location and method.

Edit: probably under 600 bucks on the whole trip honestly.

Even if you do give her the wedding, she'll be interested in other species of snakes within 5 years anyway. I don't see the point in delaying the inevitable.

My buddy did the whole court thing and that was it.

She started planning the wedding a few weeks after the engagement, became overwhelmed and said screw it.

I don't think there much more to it than that.

actually you don't, but if you don't then the state can't steal your children etc...the lic is a 3 way limited partnership, with the state as the top dog...read the fine print. I'm NOT joking

you could make up your own...then find an ordained minister that is not a 501c3 agent to do the ceremony. or get 2 witness and make your vows, have a witness read the words and sing the contract that you both agree to, not including the state in it.

the states is communism!!! what did you think community property meant?!

if that don't bother you, then forge ahead...

didn't know about that 3way partnership with the state, did you?!

did Adam and Eve get a marriage license?

They got married? haha

And if you're not joking that is something I did not know.
