Electrical question
Posted by Valhalla on 11/27/15 at 12:24 pm02
Need to install a light fixture in a house and have very little electrical knowledge. No light fixture there currently. Electrical box is not marked well and I know that the light fixture is not on the same breaker switch as the outlets in the room. What is the easiest way to determine the correct breaker for the light fixture, outside of trial and error. Don't feel like getting shocked multiple times.
I somehow inherited a digital multimeter but have no idea how it works or if it's even the correct tool for the scenario.

Dude, you're like that golden retriever in the chemistry lab. Call an electrician.

I say go for it.
Just get someone to record you and post the video here.

Is this really that big of a thing? You have all convinced me to call an electrician at this point, now just generally curious.
I'm not trying to be hard headed just trying to figure out what is the worst that can happen? What's the voltage in a situation like this? What would you do in this situation?
