Power slowly faded and went out in random spots in the house. Went on and off a couple times like a brown out. No breakers tripped. Flipped them all on and off. Lamps barely glowing and then nothing. Yall got anything?

Use a fork to test the outlets.

happened to me first time it got really cold and entergy was having issues. came back to normal but my heater wasn't working. turns out my house wasn't getting the correct amount of power, meter wasn't even running. may want to check that out.

Doesn't sound like a problem on your end. Neighbors having the same problem? Sounds like low voltage

got a voltmeter? check the voltage. should be 120 V at the outlets.

don't know. just did some more research. a bad transformer can cause either the A or B coming in to no go.

lamp in the bedroom is glowing again like it's possessed. just told the girlfriend that. now she can't sleep in the bedroom.

might be a good idea to unplug your refrigerator and freezer if you have one. Hard on the motors/compressors when not given enough power. I's also unplug sensitive electronics.

Sounds like your power provider's problem.

already made the call to entergy. nothing in our area reported yet. but most were probably heading to the breaker box at first like i did.

Happened to me once.

Someone backed into some utility box in my yard and one of the leads from the power company was loose. Power co had to come out and fix it.

Yeah, but that's not on your end. If it screws up anything in your home, they should have to replace it. Low voltage should have tripped something on their end.

I have some problems myself. I have an area that none of the electrical outlets work. Thought it was a bad circuit breaker but eliminated that and the GFI nearby. I assume one of the power outlets has crapped out breaking the circuit.

Found this on another site, FWIW

quote:

If this happens again, turn off your power at the main breaker immediately. Then call your electric utility's emergency number and report the outage. Don't turn it back on until they've fixed it. Indeed, you are VERY lucky the neutral didn't open. That can and does cause fires.. and if one leg is out, I wouldn't trust the neutral either. If your power is doing something weird, shut it off and report it - that's the safest thing to do. The symptoms of an actual open neutral are some lights dimmer than usual and others BRIGHTER than usual. If you ever see that, turn the power off IMMEDIATELY!

no.

This sounds like a bad connection into your house.

If it's from their transformer, yes...over/under should trip.

entergy problem...they probably lost one leg coming in to your house , it wouldn't trip any breakers but turn off the two pole breakers to your heater , water heater and such if you have electric heat.... those appliances aren't getting the correct power...it could be on your end if you have a bad main breaker or a loose wire burning up between the meter and panel...

2.How old is your house?

I've been doing electrical work all my life and the first thing I thought was that your house is possessed or haunted.

I have no explanation for it going off in some rooms not others. Maybe the rooms where it went "off" used dimmer switches? They supply a resistive load as opposed to a straight light switch.
