Any options for them?

Trying to help an elderly women who lost her husband. They were taken advantage of by a grandchild and lost everything pretty much and now she has no money to bury her husband.

They also apparently had an old burial policy they bought years ago but laws changed in Louisiana and the policy is only good for the amount they paid for it which is a few hundred dollars.

Very sad situation.

Call local churches? What?

depending on your social media presence, this sounds like a good option for a GFM

I'd start by calling the shite head grandchild and tell them they need to go to the funeral homes to make arrangements. It's what Grandpa said he wanted.

I miss the days when you could just bury a guy in the backyard legally

this is what I would do. Was the husband a veteran by any chance? Maybe looking into VFW or American Legion or something like that. Possible small fundraiser....

Good luck, you a good dude Stout, I have no doubt you'll figure it out for the lady.

I thought of that but I don't have a large enough social media presence. I don't have Facebook. Also not sure how much they would want to publicize like that.

Yeah, that seems like a productive and promising solution. Not.

Iscremation an option? It's less expensive.

They were against cremation but they may have no other choice considering their financial situation.

That's a said situation.
Does she have enough for cremation? I know it's not ideal but much cheaper than standard funeral.

Cremation or body donation an option? Both are cheaper, and the latter can actually serve a decent purpose.

Don't discount one last jab from beyond the grave. Could be effective in turning the grand child's life around by embarassing the shite out of them.

If she was fine with cremating I would cover it for her but she really doesn't want that. Can't say I blame her. We buried my dad in March and we considered cremating but I am glad we didn't.

As a real estate mogul, haven't you considered footing the whole kit and caboodle?

How much is cremation?

Neptune Society (burial at sea) is probably a couple hundred bucks

I think it's like $1500 with service. Less than that just for cremating.

Does she have a house? If so, a quick reverse mortgage.
