We know you mean black folks, but you're wrong. Anything less than 2.1 is less than the replacement rate...

I'm sure there will be some major wars between now and then that will keep things in check.

What kind of milk did you buy?
I don't remember milk being that cheap

We sit at 7+ billion people right now with estimates showing we'll reach 9.5 billion by 2050. Though difficult to truly estimate, most researchers agree that the Earth's carrying capacity is somewhere between 9 and 10 billion.
Lolno. Technology will increase exponentially by 2050.
10 billion people could stand shoulder-to-shoulder on Maui. 10 billion people could live in Texas at the population density of NYC. The rest of the world could be used for farming.
In summary, don't worry about the "population bomb".

I don't want to eat GMOs here in the States, but places like Africa need them.
Kind of like DDT? Not something you want in the US but the lesser of two evils in Africa?

No, I mean the single moms in the wally-world pushing little multi colored rainbows of kids behind them with multiple grocery baskets full of junk food.
It's not simply racial, it's class based. Poor people on welfare, who are subsidized by the government in their breeding, are who I am talking about.
If you took that into account your stupid graph would tell the real story.
And these same people start breeding damn near as soon as they start bleeding, further accelerating the cycle.

What are your thoughts?
there's plenty of room, everyone just congregates to form high density areas, I cover a good portion of the world for work and one thing that stands out is how much open, uninhabited space there is
ex.: if JAX were cut up into one yard squares, there's enough room for everyone in the U.S. to have their own square

The whole population density fear mongering is so overblown. The Earth is huge, we're not even close to overpopulation.
Posted on 7/24/16 at 12:31 pm to rintintin
The idea isn't really about overpopulation. It's about having the resources available to keep the status quo as we're used to right now. We're using up aquifers and topsoil at a rate quicker than which it can naturally regenerate.
And I understand that we are constantly adapting. That's why I said "difficult to estimate". Humans are the most dynamic species on earth for obvious reasons.

I personally don't think Earth will be here another 20 years.

Earth's population boom was created by fossil fuels. Once we run out, things will straighten themselves out.
Posted on 7/24/16 at 1:26 pm to PrivatePublic
We aren't running out.

Mass consumption of a limited resource that takes millions of years to produce? Yeah, you're right, it will go on forever.

And what poisonous ideology is common among these three? Maybe one that will foment and justify violence in the name of expanding territory and resources?
It's not a common ideology that I'm worried about. I'm not worried about a particular state actor. I'm not worried about any particular religion.
30 years ago, poor people didn't know they were poor. They didn't have the frame of reference. But today, you've got poor Indians following the Kartrashians on social media.
They are keenly aware that they aren't participating in the world economy. And that disparity will be volatile.

One of the main issues I see is what happens as Africa and Asia start consuming more and more resources as the countries modernize. I don't think the problem is the raw population number.
Posted on 7/24/16 at 1:56 pm to PrivatePublic
Currently we've got more natural gas thN we even know what to do with. We haven't even scratched the surface of ramping up usage of gas in the US, much less the rest of the world

TLDR: We're screwing like rabbits and rapidly running out of resources to sustain said screwing
There's actually a trend in all developed countries and developing countries that as individuals invest more into themselves (education, career, etc) they reproduce less than in previous generations. So yeah you're a fricking idiot
