Interesting stats, but one that I can not believe:

How is it remotely possible that the UK has 20% higher drinking rate than Ireland does? Sure they've got the Northern part, but I didn't think Ireland would only be 50%.

Also it seems that the French are the actual potheads in Europe and not the Dutch.

Yeah, either I went to a bad high school, or alcohol use in Mississippi is far higher than 17%. I'd bet that 90% of my class drank by the end of it.

In Europe it's much more common for younger kids to drink. Some places the family lets them drink a little wine with dinner and shite. It's not a big deal like it is here.

Because Scotland

Plus this is counting any "consumption". If it was flat out shitfaced drunkenness then America and Ireland would prob pull ahead.

Much of Europe have either far lower drinking ages than the U.S. or none at all.

Maybe.

But I'm an addict going 2yrs sober and always hated weed. Might have smoked it a hand full of times.

Edt: A lot of drug users do not drink or smoke pot. I see Pot, Alcohol and other drugs in 3 separate categories. Rarely do you enjoy or use all 3.

But that's only 5 million out of 65, with another 2 million in Northern Ireland. Doesn't really explain it to me.

As a parent, I'd prefer that alcohol be more accessible to teens than other drugs.

Well, drinking age of 18 in those countries could be a factor as well.

Easy, most of the paddies don't make it to high school, so they just drink in middle school.

I agree. But I didn't develop my addiction until 26. Didn't drink, smoke or do drugs until then.

So it can come at any point in life. But let them get their education without that problem.
