In the New Orleans/ Metairoe area- where is a good place to get two Door handles replaced for 2010 Chevy Suburban?

The dealer will probably rape me.

I asked Emilies on airline, but, he didn't seem to really be intrested.

Any suggestions?

get those types of parts on amazon and install them yourself...you will save hundreds of dollars. just youtube up the directions if you don't know how. I have done that on my 2005 and it was a piece of cake.

I just replaced the handle on the rear passenger side of my 2013 Tahoe. Searched for a video on YouTube and it was pretty simple...

There are hundreds of suppliers online and tons of go-by videos.

Whats up with new Chevys and broken door handles? Seems like if they are obviously crap they should do a recall.

Chevy dealer on Airline fixed our 2011 Tahoe handle for free. The guy said the chrome handles break all the time, but they would rather just fix them. Kind of a under the table recall since it doesn't affect safety.

With practice, you can change them w/o removing the cable.

OP, you may as well learn to do it. They will break frequently.

Ask him for a Sazerac first.

At least that'll take the edge off.

I have an 08 Suburban and have had to replace the back right handle twice and it is off again. The first time it was under warranty. The second time I paid a little over $200. I just attach it now so it looks normal but you can't open the door or you will pull the handle off. Not paying for that BS again and I just make my kids pile in in the drivers side. I have had a few teachers try and open it for my daughter in the pick up line and pull it off. I usually get out and act astonished and say "what did you do?" and they are just sitting there holding it with a guilty look. I wait a second and then laugh and say "it's okay. You didn't do that. It has been broken for a while. frick Chevrolet and frick your school."

I bet it is chrome. If so, and you are the original owner, go to where you bought it, find the service mgr, and ask for a "customer enthusiasm" replacement.

How are men this unable to figure simple things like this out?

Go to pep boys.
Buy the handle they carry, do not get the gm. It's less the $50.00.
It comes with a year warranty with free replacement.
Get home and spend 10 min changing the handle.

^this^

And also helps out if your vehicle is serviced by the selling dealer.

Now if you don't return to your selling dealer and you don't have it serviced by the dealer, good luck! The convo would go something like this:

Customer: my outside door handle for my 2010 LTZ SUV is broken and I read online where this is an issue.
Service MGR: yes, they're plastic and over time they will break, especially when people snatched the handle instead of pulling on it. You're looking around $200 for the repair.
Customer: $200? It's a bad design and GM should pay for it.
Service MGR: did you buy vehicle here?
Customer: no
Service MGR: Do you have your vehicle serviced here?
Customer: no, I do my own service work.
Service MGR: Great! You can fix your own handle yourself too. Now get the hell out of here so I can take care of real customers.

Watch a YT on it. Removing the trim panel is the toughest part, IIRC.

It's a bullshite design.
