I live by myself and I'm thinking about getting a dog to keep me company. If I get one I want it to be less than 50 pounds since I live in an apartment. OT suggestions?

Why don't you spare your neighbors the late night barking and just get some friends instead?

One that doesn't shed. I love my dog, but his hair is literally everywhere. House, car, office. No amount of cleaning makes it go away. Long after he's gone I'm sure I'll still be finding his fur all over.

Get a golden retriever, name it Shadow. Keep it in the crawl space, only letting it out on the solstices. Don't forget to feed it, though, or it will die quickly.

Since it will be in an apartment, consider adopting an older dog. They're the best anyway and there are lots that get screwed over after having practically a lifetime of someone as a companion.

Wheaten terrier, mate. 45 pounds max. Doesn't shed. Girls love them, guys love them, if you start a family they're great adaptors. Like people more than other dogs. Only problem is they don't love the heat so be careful if you're in the south.

Those dogs are gay. I had one and it couldn't even survive getting hit by a car.

Have friends, and I live on the bottom floor, so I hope it barks as much as possible as pay back because I hear everything that happens upstairs

Adopt a greyhound. Great temperament, hardly shed, sleep all day, and very low maintenance. Lots of people assume they need a lot of space/are hyper but that couldn't be further from the truth. If you have a dog park nearby, one or two trips there a month is plenty of exercise.

I lol'd
on topic, get a poodle. Awesome companion, comes in different sizes, easy to housebreak, no shedding and at least as smart as any other breed.

i would do some research and stay away from hyper active dogs since it will be couped up in an apartment.
Just go the shelter and look for a smaller mut dog,

I've got a wheaten and while I love her I don't know that I'd recommend one. The way they run, jump and bounce around is entertaining as hell and she's always happy when humans are involved(hell you just look at her and her tail starts wagging), but she's got some possessive terrier tendencies that I don't really enjoy. I can't even leave a ball laying around as when she gets ahold of it, she defends it with her life from any other dog. She's the only dog I can't leave out of her crate during the day as she chews wires and plugs as though it's her duty in life. Also, a HUGE problem with this breed are their allergy issues. Mine is constantly battling ear infections. About the only thing I've found to keep her allergy free is a raw based diet, which can be a pain and expensive.
Like I said, she's a great dog and I love her, but I personally won't ever have another(nor a terrier in general).
