Ugly wives are allowed, but not encouraged. I'd go to a place where you can drink a lot until she's not a dog anymore.

The Bulldog and Zippys are two that come to mind right off.
Ivars but they will ask you to move to the back part of the bar/restaurant where it's more a patio/garage.

What type of response did you get from other patrons of the restaurant concerning your dog was with you outside?
Our dog tends to sit under the table when we bring her. A few people asked to pet her.
If someone said anything negative I don't remember.

Having dogs outside on patios is pretty common in nicer parts of Dallas and Atlanta, etc.
You know, less refined, dirtier places than Baton Rouge.

I bring my dog to a vet located off Magazine Street in New Orleans. It's right next door to Mahoney's. That's the only experience I have, but people (maybe because the restaurant is located next to a vet) have been very receptive and friendly.
My dog doesn't bark and will sit by my side or underneath the table. I was just curious how Baton Rouge people would respond.

Are you really going to start this debate with Baton Rouge people?

New Orleans being a dirtier place has a little more tolerance for dogs in restaurants than BR.

Went to brunch Sunday at Café Amelie and my friend brought her dog. There were two other dogs there and the staff brought a bowl of water for the dog.
She has a service designation for the dog and it can go almost anyplace.

Bulldog is pretty much all I can think of.

So many people in this thread would not like me. My half wiener half wolf literally goes everywhere. Bars, restaurants, grocery stores you name it. I tell him to piss on all the produce after I pick through it too.

I think having dogs in a restaurant is gross. They shed and their hair gets everywhere.

I don't like bringing my dog places where he's not welcome. But where the idea is to draw people to your patio for drinking and eating, and dogs are basically encouraged, anyone who grumbles about it being pretty stupid, IMO.

this is way more prevalent in CA. the servers always bring you a bowl of water, and sometimes treats. Dogs have it good over here. Plus, Napa is very walkable, while in BR you'd have a tough time walking to any restaurant with the dog.
I'd certainly rather see a dog while i'm eating than smell a cigarette.

But but but but my dog doesn't do that!!
If it is somewhere where I might be eating, I don't want your damned dog around.
And people who bitch about dogs on patios at restaurants are miserable people?? Well if not wanting to watch your dog piss on the patio at the Bulldog while I am trying to enjoy a drink and a snack makes me a miserable person, then sign me up. And yes, I have seen this on more than one occasion.

I feel like there are plenty of places that would allow a dog in their outside patio, but no one really tries it.
Be bold and start the trend.

I feel the same way about people that feel the need to bring their dog everywhere.
I feel sorry your only friend is a dog, and that you need people to come up and pet your dog and tell you how cute it is.

Then don't go there.

I cant stand the fricks who let their dog roam around the patio with out a care in the world.
