La. Is one of the few states that had one and then repealed it (under Foster) and then reinstated it (under Blanco).

I wear one but I believe you should have the choice if you are over 18.

There is no hospital full of vegetables being cared for on the states dime due to their helmet less crash injuries. However, you do have a higher likliehood of succeeding as an organ donor should you not wear one and have a collision.

Why should you have the choice to wear a helmet? I don't have the choice to wear a seatbelt. You know the reason for seatbelt laws? It's to keep health insurance premiums lower, and a helmet does the same thing. IF you survive a motorcycle crash without a helmet, odds are you're going to require extensive rehab, etc, driving up insurance premiums. Wear the damn helmet.

Alabama here and we have it. I personally think it should be a matter of choice.

I agree bucktail. I'm sure a person I used to ride with wished he wore a helmet.

This

BUT

I believe you should sign a waiver of some sort with your insurance company agreeing that you pay higher rates due to likelihood of more severe injuries or even death due to not wearing one...and if you crash or die without having agreed to this, the insurance company pays you nothing!

why should the collective pay for the risk others cause.

This isn't welfare.
