" Attorneys for Manatee County and the owner of Padi, a dog in custody of the county for biting a 4-year-old boy, have agreed to halt the case before a county-appointed hearing officer and instead directly ask for a ruling from a Circuit Court judge about Padi’s fate.

A growing grass-roots movement calling itself “Free Padi” contends that the dog was provoked and should not be euthanized. It wants the dog released to its owner, veterinarian Paul Gartenberg, while the court case proceeds."

Cue the "its just a dog" crowd, the "we love watching whales get sawed alive crowd" and "lions deserve to struggle for two days with a bow in its foot to get illegally killed later" crowd.

good lord, frick these tree hugging, peta, liberal morons.

The child wandered into his office while he was in an exam room and started throwing toys at Padi, a dog that resides at the clinic, Gartenberg told the Herald-Tribune. The black Labrador-mix tried to hide beneath his desk but the boy followed it, Gartenberg said. Gartenberg believes the dog felt “cornered.”

so the 4yr old was being a 4yr old.

and the lab was being a lab. Labs bite more than any other dog.

“As he was bending over to pick a toy up the dog lunged from underneath the desk and bit him and very unfortunately tore off a large portion of the child’s ear, which will require the child to undergo multiple surgeries,”

Looks pretty shifty if you ask me.

Although I figure prison would be a lot more tolerable if you have the ability to lick your own genitals.

frick you. That spoiled kid shouldn't throw shite at animals and corner them under desks.

I have a hard time believing a dog that roamed around and lived in that office just suddenly attacked some brat unprovoked.

So threaten the family?

Didn't the babysitter say he was playing fetch with the dog? You don't think the vet has a vested interest in this not being the dogs fault?

I didn't say I agreed with threats to the family.

As much as the babysitter does for absolving herself of losing track of the child and allowing the kid to be in this situation.

A dog doesn't have to be in attack mode for its bite to harm a person, especially a 4 year old
