Absent doing some labor intensive work or drinking, does the sun take it out of you?

I was in the sun most of the day yesterday (watching my nephew play a doubleheader, my niece's soccer game, and grilling burgers and dogs for the family after). For the life of me, I couldn't keep my eyes open at 8:00 and was nodding off. I slept like a rock last night.

Anyone with expert knowledge know why being in the sun all day can exhaust one?

Excess sun makes you hot which increases your metabolic rate forcing you to sweat to cool off. So yeah. This is a clown question bro.

Yes, the older I get the more of a pussy I am. If I watch kids' game on hot day I'm dead that evening and all I did was sit in a chair and sweat balls.

Weak.

I'm old and retired. I'm content with being a pussy at this point.

It's my go-to excuse when I pass out drunk at the beach

Yep. I've definitely found I can hike farther and feel better in the shade than the sun. It's why I'm usually not a fan of "the beach".

In the dead of summer you can feel yourself literally wilting the moment you step into direct sunlight to work, especially if it is humid.

Science Religion tells us that the Sun is a gravity well, perhaps it's pulling the energy out of your body via gravitational forces.

Take a salt tab, or eat pretzels.

Just the opposite. Being in the cold takes it out of me. I can work all day in the heat.

The damn air feels like it is strangling you almost. Getting in your car after work in the summer is the worst.
