Are they considered trashy?

I would love to own a waterbed. I never got one as a kid because my mom said I would pop it.

Only person I know that has a warerbed is one of our secretary types. Her and her husband are always the trashiest people at our company get togethers.

Only one with mirrors on the ceiling.

Growing up, a friend of mine's parents had one. I always thought it was cool but never had any interest in sleeping on one.

I slept my arse off on one of those for about ten years. Might be the best rest I ever got. I would love to have one again.

mine has been gone for years...makes me smile to think back on those days when I used to rock that thing, though..

I miss it. I had a waterbed from age 1 to 23. After moving out in college, I left the waterbed behind.
It was the same bed I had since I was one.
So comfortable, and great for lazy people like me. I only had to thrust half the time.
