Went today and a lot of former homes are now for sale labeled as "commercial" along with a bunch of new subdivisions, and strip malls.

Kinda disappointing since they have a few areas I remember friends families owing, going to do bonfires, etc.

Well for me "home" is Pierre Part, LA so it can't really get any more depressing.

Katrina got most of my adolescent stomping grounds so, mostly N/A.

What's left is bittersweet, so that's where it is.

Home for me is the West Bank so yeah, it's kinda become shittier since I was a kid. I notice how run down and dirty and ugly it is. Glad I don't live there anymore.

Depresses the hell out of me going to Buras to go fishing. Nothing but out of town meth heads down there now. All the old oak trees are dead from the saltwater Katrina pushed in. The nice houses have been replaced with trailers. And to top it off the fishing is not what it used to be.

Yep, all I have
left are memories but I grew up in the Sixties so nothing
is the same in my old neighborhood.

Boyhood home was Terrytown...parents now live on Northshore....it is safe to say I have no desire to return there...I hear it has turned to shite like many areas there do.

This is the biggest reason I don't go back often.

Kind of, my parents live in a very nice neighborhood but the some of the surrounding areas are overrun with meth and heroin addicts. You can't go anywhere without being harassed for money. It's a major epidemic in my hometown.

Terrytown used to be a decent place for families. It's not horribly unsafe but it has noticeably deteriorated. It's junkier. Where once was a local video store or local hardware store is now a cheap dollar store and a liquor store. The apartments along Holmes, Carol Sue, Deerfield, and near the playground are naturally shitty. The "L" and "H" sections are still ok I guess. But yeah, going from north shore back to terrytown would be depressing. I figure in another decade Terry Pkwy will look just like Ames Blvd.

I'm married with kid in DFW, grew up in North Louisiana.

When I go home my room still has the wooden letters on the door with my name and my room is the same.

I grew up on Laurel. If you stay right inside the neighborhood it doesn't look a lot different now. Fewer trees I'd say. But the area around Christ the king is a dump now. Those apartments destroyed that section.

I did, but my parents just retired to Oxford, so no, love going back there.
