Getting a new bed frame and nightstand delivered tomorrow from Nebraska Furniture Mart. They are also putting it together and in place. I paid $80 (+tax) for the delivery and install when I purchased the bed. Do I also tip the guys? I don't think I should, but I don't want to be rude. They are coming between 11 and 1 PM so I could possibly get them lunch just to be nice. Thoughts?

Drop them a five each. That's all they need or really expect.

Yes. I also tip if it's a late delivery (after 6pm).

yes, especially if they're setting it up.
Imagine the time, mess and aggravation you're dodging. Big subway and a 20 for each.

No, you already paid $80 for delivery and installation. They're getting paid for delivery & installation, they're not driving that truck for free. Why pay them again when you're already paying them to do their job?

I'm a big tipper when that's the bulk of one's wages, but tipping a salaried employee, whom you're paying already for his work, is for the birds.

Mr. Pink was right.

I had a big screen delivered some years ago and the delivery guys wanted 50 bucks to set it on the credenza. I told them to set it down and get out.

I tipped the guys who put my bed together. Mostly because they didn't want to take the old mattress away, but when they consented I passed him a $20.

im pretty sure the lead guy gets a piece rate and the helper is hourly, which is why the lead guy is always telling the helper to work faster.

It never occurred to me to tip them.

Bigger question is why did you pay taxes on delivery and install. There should be no taxes on those services. Sounds like you already getting ripped off by this furniture "mart"

I guess it varies by state. This is Dallas and the furniture mart is one of the biggest in the US. It's not a small shop that would be doing illegal taxing.

That's not true, the delivery team doesn't get paid for any labor nor do the get the $80 for in home deliveries or the $50 for drive way deliveries. The owner of the Delivery company gets the fees and the team is paid day salary. They get paid the same if they work 6:30am to 6:30pm if they are day salary. So if they do a good job tip your team.

This. Its why I stopped tipping servers. I'd rather go get my food from the kitchen for free instead of tipping.
