Do you sign the back of debit/credit cards?

I generally try to, if I remember. I seldom have anyone check, but I lived in Colorado for a while and the cashier checked the signature every single time I used a card there.

I write I.D. in sharpie. I've been ID'd once.

I like what Costco does with their Visa cards. Your membership picture is printed on the back of the card.

What's the point? That signature will last about a week in my wallet before it is unrecognizable, and it eventually will fade completely.

I do as well, however, I'd guess less than 1 in 10 places actually take your card anymore (most of the time you usually scan it yourself). Then maybe 1 in 10 of those check the card, maybe. So it's actually more like 1 in 100 transactions. Then half of my transactions are online; now we're at 1 in 200.

Make maybe 3 to 5 transactions per day = my ID gets checked once every other month.

Yes only because more than once in the past a store would not accept my unsigned card. Of course they allowed me to sign it on the spot.

I write "ask for ID".

And if they do, I always add a little extra to the tip. So, I've added a total of about $5...ever
