Do you prefer the taste of the drop coffee maker or a Keurig?

I own a Keurig and have for a couple years now, but the quality just is not there. I used to have a drip and whether I grounded the beans myself or not, the quality of taste was just better. What is the OT's thoughts on taste? I find myself believing a Keurig is only for convenience.

I agree on the taste. Always seemed weak to me. I think with the timer you can make coffee ready to go when you want it.

Can a Keurig make the 6-8 cups I need to be human as quickly as a drip?

I tend to agree. I bought a commercial Bunn maker a couple of years back (to replace a mostly plastic Bunn home maker) - and never looked back. I make the best drip coffee in North America.

I can make a pot of coffee (~64 ounces) every 6 minutes.

It helps to have a metal filter, so you can get the oils into yt? Coffee, more like a French press. That's where the flavor is at, though i use drip except for the weekends. And even then, sometimes I'm too lazy to use a French press.

You're probably used to making coffee stronger with a regular coffee maker. You can't do that with a Keurig. It's not rocket science.

My son swears by the French press, but I'm not a convert. I did get the metal funnel for my commercial machine, just to take one more piece of plastic out of the equation - but I use the commercial paper filters - $11 for 1000 of them.

Mrs. Midnight insists the main problem with Kuerig is the plastic taste that comes out with the end product. The more I've tried them, the more I tend to agree - tastes like burnt plastic.

Nah just kidding earlier. I go thru phases and presently pretty content with Keurig but make sure to use very good quality, usually dark roast, pods and good water.

I'll do the drip or French Press technique any day of the week for coffee. I have one of those other critters, but it is just for something on the go.

French press is the way to go.

Always made fun of people that used one. Until I was given one as a gift. Best cup of coffee you can get.

I got a glass filter straw for Christmas and it works well. Looks dumb as hell, but the simplicity of simply pouring water+grounds into a cup and just drinking it is great.

We use a Keurig but grind beans and use the 3rd party capsule and fill it up for each coffee cup, makes a great cup.

Drip because I'm not trying to slowly murder the planet with plastic cups.

Keurig. Community Dark Roast and bottled water. The best coffee I ever had was made by a little old Cajun lady in one of those white enamel pots with a sock to filter coffee, poured coffee through several times. That was some good coffee.
