Do you periodically flush your radiator?

Have had a slow leak for awhile and I always just add coolant as needed.

Should I get it flushed? I also had to emergency add some cheap coolant from a gas station this morning because it overheated from someone forgetting to put the radiator cap back on. Different color than what I had in before.

OT car people suggestions?

IDK what to tell you or where to start.

I think a new radiator is in your future and probably some head gaskets.

Def. have it repaired. If you've been adding coolant this long, it's probably flushed enough.

For the diesel I have it flushed and filled annually and check the inhibitor every 6 months.

For gas I have it flushed and filled annually.

It's an '02 Grand Prix.

It eventually drains out but real slowly. My buddy's dad told me a while back it was safe to just add more but it's never been properly flushed.

Didn't want to mix coolant but was in a tough spot this morning and in a hurry.

Go ahead and spend the $200 to fix your leak before it costs you $2000.

which = dexcool which means you're entire cooling system is fricked. You have red mud from the radiator to the heater core.
No flushing that shite out.

Wonder if that contributed to the AC issues I had a little while back. It was blowing hot arse air and they said some circuits had burned up in there.

May be about time to put her down.

If it's leaking at all that means there's a bad hose/connection or likely a bad radiator ie a crack in the side of it. Said crack will only get bigger and eventually any water you put in it just pours out. Get it replaced and don't try that bars leaks stuff biggest gimmick i ever heard of.

not sure but i can tel you without a doubt if you didn't keep up with coolant flushes every 12,000 miles on that vehicle your coolant system has been ruined.

Just google Dexcool Mud and you'll see what i'm talking about

Barsleak is the only thing i would recommend to pour into an engine with a leak of any kind.Good stuff. Don't listen to this other guy. shite,Cheverolet sends their new Corvettes out brand new full of Barsleak because of the aluminum block and heads.

He couldn't run chemical flushes to clean that out? I flushed with some Cummins stuff(restore and restore plus), 30 gallons of distilled h2o, and countless gallons of hose water. Got rust and green sludge out of mine completely

no.It's cemented in there. Had already taken up 40% of the bottom of his radiator and most likely plugged up the cylinder head/intake manifold on that 3.8l motor he has.

Stuff is fricking terrible

That stuff looks like rust... How old was the system? Something just does not seem right.
