I can't believe people exist who won't wear them. You always see reports of dead people in accidents not wearing them. I figured America's last group of neanderthals resided on Tiger Droppings. So what's the story. Aren't they mandatory all over, front and back?

LA has the worst statistics on this as well.

We are really bad about this. Unfortunate really.

Unfortunately, I do know a couple of people like that. It's either inconvenient or "uncomfortable". I figure a body cast, paralysis, or a coffin would be much more uncomfortable or inconvenient, but that is just me and my simpleton reasoning.

I sure do know people like this. Does not bother me, but I am also a fan of personal freedoms.

I wait through the chime in my truck and rarely wear it, but my wife's car won't shut up so o have to put it in her car.

Seatbelts protect you from everything, including the airbag.

My brother works with a guy who often won't. He was in a bad wreck in college where the seat belt cut into him and--as I understand it--left his guts just in his lap. He's fine now but has trouble with seat belts since then. Has apparently told this to cops and they've not given him a ticket.

Just saw a story on the news about a woman getting killed on the way to her mom's funeral and wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

I had 2 friends die in high school due not wearing seat belts while after the investigation it was determined their lives would have been saved.

I wear them all the time but I guess if I am ever caught without them on, I can say it bothers my shite bag and have trouble wearing them.

They knew the risk and made a conscious decision

Can anyone really be mad at a personal, knowledge-based choice?

My FIL refuses to wear one. He's anti-government so the mere idea of legislation telling him what to do irritates him. I have to attach the passenger seat belt in my truck when he rides with me just so it doesn't ding the entire ride.

I was going home with a girl from Bogies one night. First night I'd ever gone home with her. She was driving and after a minute or so I said "hey you forgot your seatbelt." She then told me that she didn't wear it in the city because it was more likely to cause harm than good. I laughed in her face and hammered her on it for the next minute or so. She told me to get out of the car by the LSU lakes.

My entire side of the family and it bothers me. I know where it comes from though. It's because they all live in Plaquemine and rarely venture much further than that. They know they don't write tickets there, and if they did, they know enough people that could get it fixed.
I once picked my mom up and she refused to put on the seat belt, so I made her ride in the back seat when it was just her and I in the car.

People started wearing their seatbelts but quit using turn signals.

I know there will be the personal freedoms and it only affects that person not wearing a seat belt posters. I've personally worked 2-3 wrecks where someone being ejected caused another person to be killed, and a couple different one's that caused other cars to wreck. Also, you lose control of your vehicle if you are laying in the backseat than the possible chance you are still restrained in driver seat and keep control of car. Yes, other people get killed if you don't wear your seat belt.
