Do you judge people by the music they listen to?

I will admit that I have a hard time befriending folks who like bro and/or pop country. I find that music embarrassing to my people. The tough thing about this is that I live in Nashville.

When I do befriend a bro/pop country fan, I try to steer them toward what is considered alt country these days...something easy to digest like Jason Isbell.

I have no use for anyone who is way in to hip-hop and consider them incurable.

You sound like an insecure judgmental a-hole. Most people probably don't want to be your friend anyway.

Death Metal is the only modern genre I'll disown someone for. Most of the others are tolerable

Yes, I just can't help but laugh at somebody who is clearly a suburban white kid/guy bumping some rap. Dude, you got nothing in common with those people and that music sucks dick anyway.

People who listen to this new wave "country" are what's wrong with America. They're too stupid to realize they're killing what was the best genre.

I try not too, but I do.

EDM - I think you're rolling every weekend
jam bands (Wide Spread Panic, Grateful dead, Phish) - you're high righ now and currently looking for shrooms
EMO - you cut yourself

Just a few examples of my prejudices

ETA: ICP - you were probably "touched" as a child

Yes. People who listen to hip hop a significant portion of the time have to be regarded as having dubious tastes until proven otherwise.

While I'm not much of a fan myself, I do enjoy the genre.

So you have to listen to music that is culturally appropriate. That sounds pretty fricking awful.

"with whom you don't want to associate", talk like you went to college, or nobody's gonna take you seriously.
