If the Founding Fathers could see what we've become, they'd have just said frick and stuck with ole King George.

Absolutely.

We're more powerful than England and they are worshipped as gods.

I think if they could observe how our government works they would be sick. They would hate the career politicians, and hate how dumb society on a whole is. They would wonder why we care more about celebrity gossip, rather than important things happening around the world.

Not sure I agree.

Just throwing a fun fact out there: Dave Righetti once threw a no-hitter for the Yankees on the Fourth of July .. It was the first Yankee no-no since Don Larson's perfect game ..

Yes it most certainly does. Every decision we make today should be based on the hypothetical opinions of men who couldn't understand modern issues. If you don't ask what Thomas Jefferson thought about campaign finance reform then you hate freedom, period.

The same Dave Righetti that was the reliever before Maranio Rivera. The founding fathers may have frowned upon your random fact due to most being loyal to Boston though.

we live in the most prosperous, free, and dominant nation on earth... their vision started us on our way to where we are now...

is it EXACTLY how they would have wanted it to look? no, of course not.... but then again, they'd laugh at the religious right with their "founded on Christian principles" narrative, and they'd probably be amazed to see some of the Bill of Rights still around, unaltered....

Proud but concerned. We're driving ourselves into debt and chipping away more and more at the Constitution, and they would be against that.

As for blacks and women, I think they'd be less shocked than we think. A lot of the Founding Fathers wanted blacks emancipated, and the 3/5 clause was meant more as a time bomb than a way to keep blacks enslaved. If they all wanted to keep blacks enslaved, they would have allowed them to be fully counted in the Census, so the South could get maximum representation in Congress. Without maximum representation, the South was never able to keep Congress from restraining and chipping away at slavery, and that's in part what lit the Union aflame.

They'd be more shocked about women having the powers they have but many of the Founders like Adams were more progressive then we give them credit for. I think they'd get over it.

Absolutely not. By the time Obama is out of office I would imagine that their feelings will be amplified.
