I am gonna say probably not. I think they would probably be happy that we are still here and that we are a world power. I think morality that this is where our founding fathers would have the most objections. Your thoughts? Not giving political views here but I just think the word "honor" has been lost.

Today?

I´d say the country ´went off the rails´ in their eyes, in the 1850s.

What United States? The United States of America doesn't exist. It hasn't existed since the creation of the Federal Reserve.

Therefore, I ask you...why do you continue to celebrate an illusion?

They'd probably be pretty pissed at all the free slaves and women voting.

Well let's see...

I woke up this morning on my day off from work and spent it exactly how I wanted to spend it so far. I'd say I exercised the most basic idea they had for the country: freedom.

I got mixed feeling on it.

I've read where we were set up for what has happened, so I really don't know.

They could not conceive of how the First Amendment might work in an age of the internet.

They likely could not conceive of how the Second has worked.

They'd be surprised that the Third has been as of little importance as it has.

They'd have trouble grasping the Fourth in an age of electronic surveillance.

Many of them would be stunned that slaves are free and that women can vote. Only a few would think that is right.

The one thing they would recognize is the jury trial. If you put the founding fathers today in a courtroom, they would understand exactly what was happening (although they would be surprised to see women on the jury). They would recognize instantly an impartial judge with twelve people in the box and a witness stand. They probably would even know a lot of the rules of evidence.

And for the record, this is not my original idea. I coopted it from Judge Ellison in the Southern of Texas.

They held blacks as slaves.

A black man is president.

What do you think???
