That's just it. I'm not insulted. I know you want me to be insulted, that's why you have posted this same "larper thing" over and over. But it's just not working. Sorry kid.

BTW, why is it so important for you to try to insult me? You almost seem desperate. What's behind all this? Like, what's motivating you? I'm just curious to what makes an internet troll tick. I find your kind facanating.

I'm glad you find it facanating. But I'm not trying to insult you. I think you're confused. You seem bothered by my characterizing what you do as playing dress-up. I'm just calling it for what it is. I think we should both come to a place of agreement and then be friends.

No, not bothered. Just wondering why you call Bikers larpers but I've never seen you call people with other interests larpers. I mean there are numerious activities where people are known for wearing certain styles of clothing.

For example, are golfers larpers? They do dress up in certain styles where they try to look like they're a pro and being sponsored by some company like Titleist, Calloway, etc. I use to see it on the golf course daily. By your logic, are golfers not larping as well? And I suppose you could say the same about anyone doing any activity where they wear anything for the sake of that activity. So really, by your logic, unless someone does nothing but sit in their house in their underwear, they're larping.

The topic is bikers and it's accurate to call them LARPers because what they're doing is playing dress-up. If you'd like to discuss the differences between biking LARPers and golfers, we can do so in great detail.

Well, this isn't an example of good logic so I'm not sure what to tell you other than you're obviously confused.

Please, explain to me how one group is LARPing and the other isn't. I'd love to hear the logic behind this.

A tucked in polo and khaki pants are something that one can wear from work to the golf course. It's not an unusual or peculiar outfit. The fact that the clothes may be made by a particular brand is irrelevant. Golf shoes and a glove are a necessary part of the sport. They serve a purpose.

A leather vest, with the name of your club is certainly outside the norm. It's part of costume that you put on so you can play a character.

If you put on a costume and walk around playing a character, you're effectively Live Action Role-Playing. If you put on knickers and a gatsby golf hat, and head to the golf course, you're just as guilty of LARPing as a 3 patch wearing biker.

I see plenty of people wearing jeans and tee shirts to work.

As for what people wear to play golf, myself included, that gear is designed for use on a golf course.

What you're failing to realize though is the leather you see Bikers wear, likewise is designed to use while riding a motorcycle. If you don't know what I mean, I'll be glad to let you ride bitch on the back of my Harley one morning where it's 40 degrees. First you can ride wearing golf attire, next you can ride wearing leathers. You'll quickly understand why we wear a lot of leather. And if that doesn't convince you, go to Google and type in "Road Rash". That's another reason to wear leather.

The point here is the leather we wear serves a purpose other than fashion. Were you honestly unaware of this?

I have been watching a lot of reruns of "Friends" lately. Is it really possible to live in NYC, near Central Park, spend most of your time in a coffee shop while never at work and also be able to afford multi bedroom apartments with huge square footage in Manhattan?

IIRC the show devoted much time on their perspective jobs and financial situations. For example Joey, Phoebe consistently not having as much money as the others, and sometimes Rachel and Monica when they were in between jobs. Ross and Chandler were consistently employed throughout. There were often running jokes or even show topics associated with their respective careers or lack thereof. Monica and Rachel's apartment was the only large one, Joey and Chandler's and I think Phoebe's were pretty small. Ross's seemed pretty big for one person but not sure what a paleontologist working at a museum makes.

Are you really making the argument that bikers dress the way they do for safety? Did I once mention leathers, as in pants? You're arguing with a point I never made.

Why isn't this Ducati racer wearing a 3 patch leather vest?

Is the man in the second image wearing that for safety or is he role-playing?

You'd have to ask him.

But by your line of logic, a golfer who is wearing a article of clothing from the pro shop of some golf club is likewise LARPing. That is unless you think that logo somehow helps him play golf.

People personalize their clothing. Everyone. But that doesn't mean that clothing doesn't also serve a purpose other than a fashion statement.

BTW, when you go to a Tennessee game, do you wear something like this?

And by your logic couldn't it be said you're doing so to pretend you're part of the team?

You're conflating fashion with costumes. If someone shows up decked out in gear to ANY sporting event, they will likely be made fun of for being a loser (and effectively LARPing). If I show up to a pick-up basketball game with a headband, wristbands, NBA logo shorts and a LeBron jersey, I'll be laughed out of the gym.

You're right that many things can be considered LARPing. The skullcrushrs biker in the picture I posted was obviously LARPing. Like you've admitted you're guilty of. Nothing wrong with that. There are many bikers who aren't LARPers. And many golfers and pickup basketball players. Then there are people who put on their costumes and start role-playing.

For the record, there's nothing wrong with LARPing. We all have our own interests. The problem is when people start role-playing and forget that they aren't the character they're playing. Then maybe they start carrying guns, shaking down restaurants and trying to punk out other role-playing bikers and random people, or shoot up a Twin Peaks. Or they're just generally obnoxious while in character. It goes from a funny, silly game of dress-up to a really sad and embarrassing display of an identity crisis.

I'm not telling you to stop. I'm just not going to deny it can be embarrassing.

We're just going around in circles and getting nowhere. I'm not wasting any more time on you. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Have a good day.
