Hunter Higgins and some of his crew do a Jazz Fest Triathlon every year.
They swim across the bayou, ride their bikes 8 blocks to the fairgrounds then run the full 8 furlongs across the track.
You may have noticed them...they are the stinky people out there.

Bayou St. John is more brackish, than some, as it's fed from Lake Pontchartrain, which is salt water around this part of town. The salinity lessens as you head west, as I've always heard it said; especially around the spillway.
