Like I said, if you go with your family, that's one thing. If your kids want to go you go do what is fun for them. A grown arse man that loves a theme park and goes at least annually with no kids though is weird dude. It's a bunch of people dressed up like stuffed animals and long lines to ride rides modeled after cartoons. If that's your thing then whatever, but adults that cream themselves to the thought of riding pirates of the Caribbean are odd.

There are definitely some weirdos when it comes to Disney. However, anyone who thinks adults can't go and have a great time and, get this, never even see stuffed animal people are clueless. My wife and I have gone to food and wine fest a few times by ourselves and had a blast. Disney Springs is very enjoyable for adults. The golf is top notch. Don't let your ignorance get in the way of good message board banter though.

Personally, if you're not a pussy, I think it's better that way. Feels like more of an adventure.

If it works for you, that's fine, but someone who does it differently certainly isn't a pussy.

Disney has got to be one of the biggest scams in the world. You pay all that money to stay in crappy hotels, eat average food and wait hours in long lines and heat for a 30 second ride.

It never fails in these Disney threads. Someone takes one unplanned trip, stays at Pop Century and eats at Casey's and the Commissary and then calls it a vacation. I'm surprised so many of you take a vacation once every decade considering your 6-7 figure incomes.

Cute meme. But Universal is a much better park for almost anyone over 12.

You get a little bit of everything.

Alphas vs Betas
Rich vs Poors
Trashy vs Not Trashy

I'm sure more can be added.

Larisa, Greece.

Little ways from Tyrnavos. Dad was stationed at the NATO base over there (since closed down) when I was in high school.

Again, never called Disney an adventure. I was talking about using a vacation to do things, not just sit on a beach and relax. Some people want to be active instead of relax. There's no right or wrong way to vacation. We aren't all robots programmed the exact same.

So you went without a hotel reservation?

That trip we got a hotel reservation. But that takes 30 seconds. Completely different than choreographing a week of days down to the minute like some bozos do. Another trip when we road tripped from SFO to PDX we didn't get any reservations in advance, just plane tickets on either end and a Tahoe at SFO.

If you went without restaurant reservations, then you missed on some of the better meals you could have.

I had plenty of great meals. Pro tip: if you are attractive and well dressed and look like you have money you can just walk into most places. I've done the same thing in Manhattan. They ALWAYS keep seats for walk ins in reserve. "Reservations" is just a way to screen undesirables and create the illusion of high demand and exclusivity.

quote:

Same if you went to Napa and wanted one of the betters tours at the nicer places.

I would never go to lame-arse Napa. That's Disney for people who are 50+. Healdsburg is where it's at if you want great wineries and a chill time away from the Disney bullshite and insufferable crowds of olds that are Napa. I don't want to go on a "tour" with other people. I like to show up and ask local people I meet what's good and go there myself. Tours are for betas. Have a conversation with a local. It's never failed me.

U missed the point. I planned the week precisely to hit the park when there were less crowds and to make sure my daughter could have lunch with the Disney princesses and we could eat at the best restaurants without having to wait.

As far as the kids knew, they just had a really great time at the park and had no concept of the work their dad put into it months ahead of time. We didn't wait more than 20 minutes in a line the whole time.

My kids were only young once and I would have been doing a shitty job as a dad if I drug them to the park without any advance planning and they had a miserable time sitting in lines all day.

That's what I consider trashy.

I was raised in Orlando. I've been to all of the parks countless times. I could see the Disney fireworks from my first place, and went to high school across the street from universal. Islands of adventure is better than anything Disney has.
