Moving and I have to switch to one of these.

Both of them are equal as far as price and equipment goes with the same channels in the packages I'm looking at.

Dish-free Netflix for a year
DtV 2016 Sunday ticket free

Dish 2 yrs intro price then 1 yr regs price
DtV 1 yr intro price then 1 year reg price

Cut the cord. Is cable a must? See the tech board if interested.

After having both, Dish wins hands down. Especially if you'd enjoy streaming live or recorded tv on your phone.
Here's a promo code to save $50 just in case..

DirecTV. They compress the hell out of video but who doesn't unless you're using OTA.

They are pretty much the same, but Dish will be total assholes when you cancel their service.

I've had both and so far I have to say I enjoyed Dish more. Superior interface in my opinion, and my Genie doesn't have remote finder like my Hopper had.

Other than that, differences don't seem to big.

I've had both and the only reason I pick dish over directv is directv's layout of the channels is the most unorganized bullshite I've ever seen.

And the guide, dvr, changing channels etc. is very slow and lags which is also annoying.

Dish has the 3 year price lock promotion I believe. It's tough to beat that deal. I've found that dish is cheaper than direct

Had both DISH has better equipment and the sling box integration was awesome.

DirecTV main advantage is just Sunday ticket

BLUF-Dish

I had Dish, switched to DTV when I moved, switched back as soon as my contract was up. It is all preference. Everyone likes things differently.

The Dish DVR is 2x the size of DTVs.
Dish has the price lock.
You get the year free of Netflix and Chill.
No Sunday Ticket; if you live in the viewing area of your favorite team, this does not matter.
The GUI for the Dish DVR is far superior to DTVs
Dish is so much less expensive, regardless of the price lock.

Go over to a friend's house and test drive each one.

DirecTV.

If you decide to go with Direct, let me know and I will send you a referral code that will save you (and me) $100.
