Disagreement over hamburgers leads to assault, arrests for Downsville family.

A disagreement over how many hamburgers could be eaten ended in the arrest of a Downsville woman and her nephew Sunday evening by Union Parish sheriff’s deputies.

The woman was charged on three counts of attempted aggravated assault on three deputies and four counts of resisting an officer by force or violence.

Gloria Ann Cashion, 68, of 4100 Hwy. 552, is accused of assaulting three deputies with her vehicle. The deputies were called to the residence because of a family disturbance.

Cashion’s nephew, Johnny Lagrone Franks Jr., 24, same address, was charged with one count of aggravated battery. He is accused of throwing a heavy logging chain and a broken cattle prod at his uncle, Lawrence Franks, because he asked him to leave a hamburger for another person who was coming to eat.

Lawrence Franks told deputies that Johnny Franks had been sleeping in a pickup all day until he was waked up to eat. Johnny Franks accused his uncle of disrespecting him about the hamburgers and invited the uncle outside “for a butt whipping,” deputies reported.
