My first cell was analog and anyone who's had an analog phone knows the best excuse to hang up on someone you don't want to talk to is "I can't hear you. Too much static"

Digital phones just drop calls and coverage has now become amazing with companies like ATT and Verizon.

Can anyone give me a few go-to excuses as to why I have to hang up a cell?

My battery is dying and I don't have a charger, so I have to go to save what's left of the battery.

Getting in an elevator is my go to, if I am in a car I saw I have to drive thru a tunnel. My last option is to just hang up and text them back that we got disconnected and I'll call later.

Why not just say my parents, wife, or business colleague is calling you with an important call.

I forget to take my phone with me often. My wife will call and hear my phone ringing in the house and I'm not home

Cell phones do suck big time.

Work has you on a leash no matter where you go.

I pretty much let every call I get go to voicemail, then see how urgent the message sounds.

Why are you answering in the first place of you don't want to talk to them?
