What if you're safe from the flooding waters, but there are other potential risks on the horizon?

What if you reside in a crime-ridden neighborhood where homicides are present?

What if your occupation has a higher-than-average mortality rate?

What if you have a serious chronic illness?

What if you called your wife fat to her face, you haven't seen her for several hours, and you just realized that your gun is missing?

Should you still mark yourself as "safe"?

I thought it was pretty nice to see that people were safe as I live 5 hours away.

I'm not understanding the problem here.

A friend marked me as safe. I was like bruh I hadn't talked to you in like 12 hours what if I was dead of an unrelated incident?

You wouldn't be unsafe, you'd be stupid.

It also wouldn't let me dismiss it as a notification.

I think FB is just now catching up to the backlog of people checking in days ago

The people I see checking in are the ones who have been posting about this storm 24/7 since the first raindrop fell

Is it? I just got the question of whether or not I was safe.

Not really. Same feature was used in The Paris attacks. I think its cool of FB and it makes sense.
