Did you have a friend growing up who didn't respect their parents?

Or did you not respect your parents? I had a friend who would treat his mom like sh##. I never understood how he got away with it because I was raised in a household where if I talked back or disrespected my parents I'd get it! I thought about this because I heard one of my cousins back talk my Aunt and I thought to myself "My mom would've whipped my arse if I talked to her like that." How were you raised?

yep

Parents were really nice to everyone too. I never understood it. It's like he was strangely embarrassed of them so he treated them poorly as a result.

It's usually from kids with broken homes who learned from watching their dad. I knew a few kids like that growing up.

When I was 10 I was at a friend's house and his mom was playing bridge with three ladies. We went inside for some reason and his mom said we needed to go back out and play. He told his mom don't be a fool cause it's hot. She laughed and her company laughed.

Later I go home and my mom asked where I had been. I said, "don't be a fool cause I'm home now". My mom slapped my face, and when dad came home she told him what I had said and he beat the living daylights out of me with his belt.

I did learn a valuable lesson, justice is swift when one shows disrespect.

I mouthed off occasionally, but that was just me being a smart arse kid. I deserved whatever I got as a result. Never truly beaten though after about 14. Cell phone, no going out, punishments like that kept me in line.

You have to establish the dominance early. They will try and push as far as they can to see what they can get away with. I have 13 yr and 10 yr sons. They are constantly getting slapped in the back of the head due to their mouth

Looks like you haven't really established dominance.

I had a buddy like that in college (from Freshman year on, so I didn't get the feeling that it was new). Cursed them on the phone, didn't meet them at the airport when the came to visit, introduced them to chicks he knew they wouldn't approve of. Got cut off for a year, but dad couldn't leave him hanging for long (mom was more strong willed).

Jackass was rising at Goldman last time we talked. Maybe upbringing isn't everything. Maybe he'll crash and burn sooner or later.

I respected mine but I had a few that didn't, and the ones who didn't all came from fathers worth multi-millions.

I came from a different era. Respect was demanded.

I remember a funny one when I was about 11...dad asked me if I had taken out the garbage the way he asked me. I said "yes"

Before I knew it my teeth were being sprayed across the room. It was the last time I forgot to say yes sir. Valuable lesson

I was raised by hand, with all that that implies. I was disrespectful to my mother more times than I want to admit, and I rightfully caught it from my Dad when that happened.

My father was a City Police officer, if i fricked around, i would have to feeel the wrath of his frustration from work. No way!

Kid who lived by me, he told his parents to frick off, go eat a dick, etc. My old man would of kicked my teeth down my throat for that.
