there was something so unique about them... even the cellophane/wax paper and the feel of them - the density. the frosted coating.

Rumor is that Krispy Kreme is buying all recipes and copyrights to them so they can start producing them again. I remember reading it on this board about a month back.

From what I heard they're going to sell the recipe to someone else who will produce them. No word on who that someone else is though.

I know is "wall marks" but they starting selling little pies for $.50 in the bakery. the lemon is damn close to the hubigs in taste...

Hubig pies were very overrated IMO. They left an aftertaste and they were just meh to eat.

IIRC they did turn the old location into condos, but they also mentioned that they still had intentions of opening a new facility. I think there may be legal dispute holding them up. I'm not holding my breath that anything ever happens.
