I'm currently in it right now @ Auburn. If so, (which I highly doubt) what did y'all use to study? Any tips or anything?

P.S. I have to take for my major

My calculus teacher quit talking halfway through the semester because no one could understand him. He just wrote on the board. Dr. Suh iirc.

Took out this one Chinese girl who expanded my world view. It was well worth the effort.

Here's a terrible story my counselor at LSU once told me: she had a student who was a business major. As a business major you have to do 4 semesters of foreign language, he chose Mandarin. Well, he got through the first 3 okay but failed the 4th semester. Which resulted in him not graduating. Since LSU only has one Mandarin 4 class he had to come back the next spring to take only that class.

So... be careful.

For 2 1/2 months before I realized how ridiculous the classes were. The class average was a B so I though I could give it a try. Started off with 60 kids in the class. When I dropped it mid-October, there were 15 left and all of them were Asian with some Asian lingual experience. I actually didn't find the lingual part too hard. I could do the pinyin too. But for the life of me, I couldn't get those fricking characters and the tests were only in characters.

We haven't touched those yet. I'm pretty excited about the fact that my professor gives extra-credit for a whole letter grade so I'm hoping I can squeak something out.

Pinyin is the easy part right now, it's just understanding what she says and the tone because half the time it all sounds the same...

We had to learn pinyin and characters at the same time and had quizzes in pinyin and tests with characters. I filled up notebooks full of tbat shite. Eventually it got to be too much.
