First visit, comprehensive exam and X-rays, $300. Does that sound a little high?

with or without insurance? Yes, reasonable if no insurance.

But insurance should cover an annual and x-rays every 2 (I think) years.

As someone who just dropped $32,000 CASH at a dentist for a family member. I can sympathize.

sounds about right. My dentist offers a pre paid program for that same amount for the same services. Only he'll do it twice a year and discounts other procedures if you buy the program. oh and a cleaning is also part of the pkg

Then yes. In my experience that cost is reasonable.

Sometimes you can get free cleaning, x-rays, and a basic exam for free if you catch a special somewhere. I know this doesn't help now, but it may be something to look for in the future.

I'm sure there is a catch with the free stuff. They may "find" that some extensive work is needed.

Very high. My dentist is half that for the same service and cleanings twice a year.

I guess when you're going for multiple visits where anesthesia is needed it will add up fast.

It does sound a little high, but not by much. Your answer is Groupon. You can get teeth cleaning and x-rays for $50 with a Groupon.
