Deconstruction on Perkins Road - in Front of New Apts

So EBR DPW is removing the barrier they installed in front of the west entrance to this new apartment complex (The District I think).
Anyone know the reason? I thought this was a bad idea from day one (raised barrier in the suicide lane), so I assume some event spurred its removal.
TIA for any info.
PS - I would have contact local councilman's office (John Delgado), but they've been useless in the past.

I saw this as well this AM.
I figured all along it was only a matter of time before someone tore out the bottom of their car by running up on that thing. I am amazed that they didn't just put up some of those plastic sticks if they wanted to curtail left hand turns out of that entrance. But it is DPW and stupidity is usually the rule of the day. On that note, why not just put sticks up on top of the barrier? Or remove it and add sticks in its place? Curtailing left hand turns from there is a good idea. Just crappy execution.
BTW, not to get all Poli Board but you are 100% correct about Delgado and his office. If it doesn't pertain to getting him elected mayor or helping his bars downtown, he is useless. I actually tried to get an appointment to speak to him reference an issue in his district. His staff refused to let me speak directly to him. NEWSFLASH Delgado, you aren't POTUS. Take calls from your constituents you hump.

What barrier? A barrier in the middle lane or something?

About 18 inch high strip of concrete apparently intended to keep people from going left.
Wise move to put something like that in the dead center of the turn lane with no signs or anything sticking up. They painted it yellow but there isn't any seeing it at night. Totally stupid to put it there.

I agree. When I saw that I instantly thought that this couldn't be a good idea at all

You think that's a pain? Just wait til Rouzan opens and adds another couple hundred vehicles to the mix (on top of what The District has/will have).

Rouzan will be a while and I will be long gone from Southdowns. I live off Edinburgh and it will be a nightmare.
I mean I cant imagine what perkins will look like after both places are fully built at 5 pm on a Friday and its raining.

I wondered why they went that route instead of a stick barrier. I'm right by there as well and it's kinda dangerous IMO.

To be fair to DPW, their stupidity is really only a problem that is compounded by the general public stupidity. Any smart, observant person would see the barrier and go, "Oh, that's dumb, but better not drive over it." Unfortunately the world is not filled with only smart, observant people.
Take blinking yellow lights. Only in BR does that mean stop.

I think DPW and driving public stupidity are related but I would like to think (at least in an ideal world) that the great traffic control minds in this department would do the smart thing every now and then.
Thanks to all for the info.
