I've traveled all over this country and Baton Rouge has got to be the most screwed up traffic I've ever encountered. It never fails that when traveling east on I10, the MRB will be gridlock.

It's absurd traffic that should be an embarrassment to the city and state. Traffic westbound was bad earlier today...at like 10:45am. Eastbound at the bridge is the worst. Best bet is to try to detour 190 to the old bridge.

that's why you avoid BR from 8-10, 10-2, 2-7, and 7-10

BR is overall the absolute most frustrating city I've ever driven much in. And I live in Houston now. But I can understand Houston traffic. It's a giagantic city and they've really tried to make it flow. Multiple loops and HOVs and extra lanes, I appreciate the effort. BR/Louisiana doesn't make any effort. Synchronize lights? frick you. Build a loop? frick you hard in the arse.

So you're saying it's wide open between 10 and 8? Some might disagree.

eta: It wasn't quite as bad before the population doubled overnight after Katrina.

Not to mention they are constantly building and adding connections to smooth things along. Once they finish 290 should help things a lot.
