It would be the end of the world if they were ever launched. That's pretty well known. You're better off just walking outside and dying quickly.

Wow. Looks like we had about 20 nukes with Moscow's name on them. Holy hell, imagine what that would look like.

hmm....

I am now ok with dropping a small 50 KT warhead on Isis. the fallout would not be as bad as I had originally thought.

I detonated the 100Mt Tsar bomb over central Moscow. Holy shite

quote:

Effects radii for 100 megaton airburst* (smallest to largest): ? Fireball radius: 3.79 mi (45.1 mi²) Maximum size of the nuclear fireball; relevance to lived effects depends on height of detonation. If it touches the ground, the amount of radioactive fallout is significantly increased. Minimum burst height for negligible fallout: 3.41 mi. Air blast radius (5 psi): 20.3 mi (1,290 mi²) At 5 psi overpressure, most residential buildings collapse, injuries are universal, fatalities are widespread. Optimal height of burst to maximize this effect is 9.01 mi. Thermal radiation radius (3rd degree burns): 45.8 mi (6,600 mi²) Third degree burns extend throughout the layers of skin, and are often painless because they destroy the pain nerves. They can cause severe scarring or disablement, and can require amputation. 100% probability for 3rd degree burns at this yield is 13.9 cal/cm2. *Detonation altitude: 47,550 ft. (Chosen to maximize the 5 psi range.)

Look at the optimal height of burst figures. Crazy.

Optimal height of detonation to destroy most buildings over a 21 mile radius is 9 miles

Nagurskaya, Russia - killed only 20 people. The furthest northern target site and an island in the Arctic Ocean. Probably going after radar installations.

Not really. It would truly be a major change to civilization but not the end of the world. If you live close to a major target you're screwed of course, but blast and heat effects drop off quickly thanks to the inverse square law. If you're in the boonies and not in a fallout path you're probably okay.

The big problem would be disruption to supply chains. Hope you have your own garden while things slowly get patched back up again.

And if you happen to live in an area that simply wasn't bombed at all (say, South America generally) you're good to go. People in a developed area that wasn't on the receiving end (like probably Chile or New Zealand) would be hit by the economic disruption but life would go on.

Congrats you've all been part of Americas newest game show "Just Nuke It". We have been collecting this data and the location that America chooses to nuke the most will actually have a real nuclear device dropped on it. Early money is on Los Angeles. Get to work America picking your favorite target
