Born September 18, 1961. Died June 19, 2013 - way too young.

Know a few people who met him when he rode with Bacchus. They said he was the nicest guy you could ever meet.

I'm rewatching now. Watched for the first tme a couple years ago. I'm enjoying it more the second time. I actually wasn't that impressed the first time around - maybe I was expecting something different then.

I'm sure he had his moments but a popular conservative radio/TV host had a bad experience with him. He strolled up to Gandolfini with his kids in tow, told him he was a big fan, and Gandolfini basically said he couldn't say the same thing about him before calling him Satan in front of his children.

Afterwards Gandolfini apologized to him though.

I binged watched the series a couple of months ago. It's still my favorite HBO series.

I do not know Gandolfini's filmography. The only movies I remember him being in were "Crimson Tide" (naval officer); "True Romance" (hit man); and a movie about a cop who goes undercover in a Hasidic community (hold up guy in the jewelry store).

Gone too soon.

If you want to see a movie that's a role different than what you would expect from him, watch "Welcome to the Rileys." Kristen Stweart plays a stripper in it, and he starts an odd relationship with her, trying to "save" her.

Is the Sopranos on Netflix?

I don't find much when I search or I'm not doing it right but I don't find a lot on Merflix I thought would be there.

Iona, check out The Last Castle with him. Redford was the main, but Gandolfini played a pretty good supporting role, and not in how you would expect. It definitely allowed him to show a different side of his acting.
