Man, this thread's responses kind of suck. Why waste time and resources on something hard to prove when you can charge him as a habitual offender and lock him up for a very long time?
I agree with the idea that the law is a piece of shit, and that its implications are incredibly biased in favor of minorities, thus, this situation is therefore somewhat hypocritical; however, hate crime charges in this instance could also serve as a dangerous precedent for the DA that is far more likely to affect white defendants in this day in age.
I would humbly submit to the OT to realize this was a calculated move by Hillar. If you don't at least consider that concept in the given context, you are approaching the level of sophistication of a Trayvon-supporter.
