I would try for more than a gallon to curve that appetite a little more. I drink about 2 a day on workout days. Give interval training a shot and eat a lot of fruits. They are low in calories but will hold you over for awhile. When I did my serious cut I was only eating about 900-1200 calories a day. It hurt but it came off quick and was sustainable after I brought my diet back up.
Eta I was drinking protein like crazy though to keep my levels up and not lose muscle. I don't really count pure protein on calories.
