Custody/Family law questions

Does anyone have any experience with family law, or custody of minor children in MS?
I have questions about parents rights (out of state dad), and mom who has raised child with little/no support from dad.

I appreciate your attempt at humor, but this is a serious situation my family is in.

If It's that serious you should probably consult an attorney admitted to practice in Mississippi and not an anonymous message board dedicated to LSU athletics

You are probably right, and I have an appointment with an attorney in MS at 9am this morning. Maybe you shouldn't comment on things if you have nothing productive to say.
I was hoping that someone may be able to tell me what to expect.

You might get some more serious responses if you actually posted the questions you have. It's hard to give answers without knowing the situation.

So your daughter married a bad dude, or did she marry a good dude and cheat on him?

The OT does not disappoint.

No.

Hire a lawyer.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but there is literally zero upside from getting free advice on the internet.

He is definitely right and you shouldn't post things on message boards if you can't take the ridiculous responses.
If you want to know what to expect, we need pics of you and your daughter.

The situation is that the biological dad (who has never seen the kid) wants to come here from NC and take him. There has never been a custody order (of any kind). He has never established visitation rights or anything.
Biological dad is on probation in NC for "crimes against nature", and assault of a female. Crimes against nature in NC is a felony, and can be anything from sex with an under-aged person, forcible sodomy, sex with penetration in a public place, or sex with an animal.
My question is, how likely is it that a judge would give him visitation, custody, or let him take the child to NC?
My fear is that a lawyer is going to scare us with the worst case scenario in order to gain a paying client, and make us go through something that we would otherwise be able to avoid.

What is your question?
Both parents have rights. Unless you have proof or drug use or physical abuse, those kids will not be taken away from the mother. I hope you have a good attorney because there are several crap idiot ones out there.

Good god that is way too much information.

My advise, as a non lawyer, would be to not be cheap in this situation. I think I'd spend the money to make sure my grandson didn't end up with a sex offender.

We have an appointment with a guy down in OS. He helped another friend of mine and was good with her case, but she had a fairly easy case. Her daughter was a meth head, not too hard to take the kid from her.
We are looking at something entirely differ bent here. We aren't trying to take the kid away, but the biological dad is. He has threatened to come here from NC and just take him back. Since no custody has ever been established I'm afraid we cant stop him.

Get the lawyer. If he has a lawyer and you don't and to go on the assumption that the judge probably won't let him take the kid, his lawyer will crush you.
Also, where are the pics of you and your daughter. A/S/L?
