[qoute]Agreed and I'd add in any single handed Oly lifts.[/qoute]
If you are talking single handed barbell, then yes, that is circus stuff.
If you are talking DB, then I disagree. They are much easier then barbell stuff.

This is my first open. I got through 26 snatches on the final round RX for 186/225 Did way better than I thought I would.
I'm actually going to be in NOLA Wednesday through Sunday of next week so I'll have to do the open down there. Any of y'all have any suggestion so for a spot to drop in at?

Just because you can put a DB over your head doesn't mean you're doing it correctly. I'd bet most aren't.

It's not rocket science. Is a single arm overhead press difficult to do correctly? How about a single dumbbell clean? Really not too difficult, especially if you lighten the load and progressively increase the load over time.
Don't try to make it something it is not.

It's not the most difficult lift but it's not a curl either. There's a technical component.
The thing you jackasses forget is you aren't just talking a DB Snatch. You're talking about a frick ton of them for time. That's a recipe for disaster.
I'm done debating though. Enjoy the shoulder surgeries.

You're right, a lot of people shouldn't be doing this, especially when it comes to speed
I had weight lifting experience prior to this and I still hurt myself, mainly because I'm an idiot. I think it's great so many want to get in shape but safety should be most important and that comes with teaching proper technique. Often times someone could have solid technique but when speed comes into play they start to lose that technique.

I know someone who went sub 12 in 17.1. Killed the workout.

The single arm DB snatch is really just ground to overhead without a pause at the shoulder.
Technically it's not really a snatch.
Most can just pull hard with an aggressive hip pop to pull it overhead.

Got thru 35 of the 50 snatch round........my lower back was toast. I'm hoping for a barbell or some pull-ups next week.

I did 17.1 on Saturday.
RX - 180 Reps
I probably could have gotten a few more reps with some minor changes but I was pleased with my score for a beginner.

The crossfit inbreeding is what truly intrigues me. All the members hangout together and hookup with each other, and the women are for the most part horrendous. There are surely some cute girls who do crossfit, but the vast majority are manly women happy to have an outlet to exercise their excess testosterone. And the crossfit men dig it! You'll see a shredded dude who undoubtedly could have his pick among women (if he were to have a neutral personality) walking around holding hands with this
