Workout will suck because it includes burpees.

The DB snatches will be the easy part while the burpees jack up your HR.

Luckily we did a 4 rounds for time of 20 DB snatches and 10 burpees 10 days ago. Time wasn't too bad, but the work will be almost doubled in 17.1.

I'm very rarely ever impressed with the physique of a crossfitter.

Every time I see a person who CrossFits regularly, they are either have ridiculously fantastic bods or look the same/worse than when they started.

I've said this before but I know one girl who was obese before CrossFit and she is still obese to this day. And she's hardcore into it. But I also see other people who look pretty amazing.

So be an a-hole about it all you want, I am sure my physique is pretty normal. But as a 47 year old that can do stuff I couldn't dream of doing at 37 I don't understand the stupid shite that is spouted.

It's all about goals. If you're hitting your goals and making your body what you want it to be then more power to you.

I used to really enjoy running, just to unwind. I ran a lot while I was in school at night and early in the mornings. I can't do that anymore because it was killing my gains. It's all about how you want your body to function and how you want it to look.

The only thing I really ever shite on (the majority) of crossfitters for is (1) their horrid form (2) their strange cult-like mentality. I feel like it's a lot of people who have never really spent time in a gym and finally got with a program (crossfit) and want to tell everyone about it and why it's new and better than what others are doing. If you've been lifting awhile, you've seen fads come and go and this just seems like another fad.

Or that the NSCA completely fabricated a report and even admitted to it, lol

We get it. You have terrible form and debilitating back and joint issues.

A fad based off of 6 core movements and oly lifting?

I've literally never heard a person say that Crossfit is "better than what you are doing"

Horrid form? Have you been to a gym? I do not say all have great form, sime have terrible form. But to lump them all in as horrid shows that same bias I don't understand.

i don't do the social stuff at our gym too much, but why would it bother anyone "it's this part right here". You are literally saying that if they didn't hang out together you would have no problem. Lol

I'm 193 right now and just hit a strict press PR of 217.5lbs. Squat is close to 405, Deadlift is 445 and bench is at 325.

Those numbers are up from before I started CF and I stopped training specifically for those movements.

Crosfitters have the worst form of any people who spend time in the gym regularly. And it's not close. When you do a compound lift for time, you're asking for deteriorating form with each rep.

My quick experience (because we aren't allowed to talk about cross fit): I've been going to crossfit for about 6 months and they are just now allowing me to really start adding weight. Focus has been on form and doing it right to avoid injury. Found the areas I need help in flexibility and strength and worked on those.

I didn't get the social stuff as much as first, but now I see it as motivation to get there for the workouts as I know the other people that will be there.

Used to do crossfit, I think there are a lot of basic tenets that are good fitness practices

Bad form/technique instruction, bad fitness routine programming and bad group of people can make it awful though.

deteriorate your joints? I have been doing it for 4 years, I seriously do not know one person that is a regular crossfitter that has had a single joint surgery.

Yes, they have tendonitis, bursitis, and other shite that happens to active people.

I do know one that had a back surgery due to a disc bulging, however the event that exacerbated her back pain was a week long yoga binge...hell lifting may have caused it, but when all the radiating symptoms started they were in conjunction with ROM activity.

bullshite. bullshite, because you used words like "worst". You're telling me that a crossfitter has the "worst" snatch form, or the worst Clean and Jerk Form? Compared to people who frequent the gym? What kind of gym? 24 hour fitness? A barbell club? "And it's not close"? You're talking out of your arse, with statements like that.

They did poke some holes in it...do stupid injuries happen in boxes? frick yes. And this brought light to that. Is it bc some ppl without proper mobility are being coached by 5th year members with a few certs only by crossfit, yes! You honestly cannot tell me that all crossfit coaches are legit well studied and know physiology and energy cycles to where they can diagnosis and administer proper training based and a person's training age, health history, and ability to move.

Watch a few Kstar vids, pass a couple of xfit certs, maybe go to a USA oly cert, butcher someone else's program, d3&t, and whamo they're a coach that people are trusting.

this is where the argument leaks....every Crossfitter is judged with a standard, yet the standard is reserved for regular gym goers as ones that go 'regularly'

If you compared guys and gals that are daily exercisers and take it seriously at either location, you would see pretty much the same form from each.

I will show my bias here. But we have multiple folks at our gym that get their programming from Matt Bruce, including going down there for specific training. When they come back in and share advice and help us regular folks, you see a lot of improvement across the whole gym.
