CONVENT, La. -- The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a barge that sunk Monday near Convent.

Officials say the crane barge broke free of its mooring and sank near mile marker 160 just after 5 a.m.

The barge reportedly contains a maximum of 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel. The Coast Guard says they're working on a plan to salvage the vessel.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the incident is under investigation.

Could be anybodys crane that was moored around Zen-Noh grain. looks to be the area this happened at, or all the cranes being used at Nucor.

Its an old St. James Stevedores crane that is now owned by Associated terminals. it's a fairly small crane/excavator for taking cargo to a conveyor.

Not sure who it belonged to but it is not affiliated with Zen-Noh Grain/CGB.
