COX Cable signal strength

Ok

So before my HDTV, Ive got a two way splitter, (outside of the house),and another 4-way inside the house, attic.

So the signal at my HDTV has gone thru 2 splitters.

I have been having problems getting good picture quality on the HD, so the signal is weak. All other regular TV's are fine.

Are signal boosters, amplifiers worth it and do they work ? Anybody know a good brand or what type would be best ?

re: COX Cable signal strength
Cox put an amplifier in the attic of our new house (existing home) when we moved in, as they couldn't push our 6 TV's and Internet where they would perform. Working good, other than the problem with the cable Cox found yesterday that was affecting our Internet connectivity.

BTW, the technician that was out here(far and away the best we have ever had) said that the loss across splitters and in-line fittings, was negligible, FWIW.

I believe if you can put the amplifier before the splits, your signal strength should improve.

If you put it after, you'll be amplifing the weak signal.

Cox sucks ass. they rewired my attic and it still snows on the HD tv in the master bedroom. They have been out 3 different times and its a bunch of dumb asses. Jacquiii Vines should ousted for how poor the service is. She dont give a shite about anything as long as she is at the latest social event.

Uncs-you might have to keep after them. The technician that shows up makes all the difference in the world. Ask for the repair supervisor to be sent out, due to the three false starts. That is how we ended up with the free amplifier...

This sounds like my experience with Time-Warner in the NC Triangle. It took 9 months of hounding these people, until the right cable guy showed up. He replaced the cable from the d-mark to the cable box in about a half-hour. The other three guys didn't have a fricking clue.

Do the amplifiers require a 110V power supply ?
