Couples Who Always Fight With Each Other Around Others?

There is this couple I know, who has been together for 10+ years. They have always bickered with each other no matter who was around, but the past few years it seems like they have become down right mean to each other. Yesterday I was around this couple and the wife told her husband "you are almost as big of a pussy as your daddy. Why couldn't you be like your mother, at least she has the balls to tell your daddy what to do all the time". I thought that was an interesting comment. Has anyone been around a couple that brought an awkward vibe everywhere they went?

Yes I've known people who were like this. It's an abomination, IMO. Either ignore each other or leave each other alone, but don't just shite all over each other. I like to think I'd role out on my wife if she treated me this way. Some people thrive on anger/misery/conflict. I just don't get it.
