Couple Getting Married Choosing A New Last Name

So a couple that I know are getting married and rather than the bride taking the groom's last name they have decided to make up a new last name for the both of them. Each has a generic common last name. They have decided to adopt another common new name.
Anyone heard of this? I know couples that have combined and hyphenated their last names before but I don't think I've heard of a couple deciding to create a new last name.

Sounds like the groom is a beta cuck and his bride to be if batshit crazy.

I've heard of it, but don't know anyone who's done it. I do know one guy who took his wife's last name.

Would be a deal breaker

I actually know a couple that did this years ago.

No it's not me. I know the bride and she just doesn't like his last name. Strange thing is there is nothing wrong with it that would make it embarrassing or susceptible to mockery. It's a common name like Smith or Jones.

It's better than taking the wife's name or doing a hyphenate, but that's pretty bad. How's his father taking it? I'm sure he will be dissappointed to know that the family name will die with his son.

His mother and dad are not happy but they are just burying their misgivings.

There are few absolutes in the world:
If I were a Crapp, I could see it.

The whitest people on earth do this all the time. Ever heard of Leif Erikson?

Right, because people haven't changed their family name before.

No issues if the husband has some crappy last name, like Fuchs.
