Did he cover up many rapes?
I wouldn't call this Baylor 2.0.....yet. It does show that Bama will do whatever it takes to protect a wealthy booster but would they have done the same damage control for a backup kicker? This probably isn't the first girl to try to have something done about ole Sweet T but her committing suicide due to the lack of help she was given brings it to light nationally.

So in Alabama you have to "earnestly" fight back for it to be rape? You guys may want to consult your legislators and get that fixed
Lol...Just doing a quick look, I don't think updating the rape law in Alabama will be on the minds of the legislature.

This reminds me of about 2 years ago where that girl up here at Notre Dame got raped by a football player and then commited suicide after the campus police didn't pay any attention to it.
Much like that, I would assume that this will get quickly forgotten about. The Alabamas and Notre Dames of the world live under different rules than the Baylors of the world.

If he did this once chances are very strong that he has done it multiple times. Maybe some other people will come out.

It would be interesting to contrast this thread with the Rolling Stone or Mattress Girl threads. Amazing the influence team bias has on otherwise rational adults.

This is typically the part of the story where you would provide national statistics or statistics from a similar county.
Rape cases are very difficult to prosecute, for many reasons. It's hard to even have enough evidence to get to a grand jury. The problem is that it is very difficult to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that there was no consent. Proving that consent didn't exist is obviously a crucial element to proving rape. If the prosecutor does not have the evidence going into the case to feel that they can prove that consent did not exist, then they simply can't go to a grand jury, and therefore the case never sees a trial.
The BuzzFeed story blames Alabama's "archaic" rape statutes, but the Alabama statutes are similar to those of many other states. The fact of the matter is, it's hard to find the evidence to prove there was no consent. This is a problem throughout the country

That's not the point.
This guy is over there raping women, and y'all are worried about some journalist's bias.
Unreal.

Of course it isn't.
That would expose your zealousness. How many other rape cases have you championed?

You think the women's lib writer of this story gives a flying frick about football? I seriously doubt it.
And it IS amazing the influence a college football team has on the mind of a person to the point that they will disregard human decency for the love of the tide.

Again, not the point. This is about rape at the University at Alabama. And, how they University of Alabama covered up rape(s).
