If a group of investors get together and decide to build an amusement park that isn't related to any type of brand (like Disney world was/is), but has the "wow" factor, do you think it would do well? If you consider everyone who goes to Disney world as your target audience, those people are not taking a trip to both places in a year. So it would have to be creative in creating a bigger target audience. But would it be difficult to get quality workers? Is there anything else that would cause it to be successful or not successful?

Legend has it Walt wanted to build Disney World in Louisiana area and started buying up land and people caught on and prices skyrocked, so he diverted to orlando area, and had different holding companies start buying up property so know one would realize what he was doing....

According to this article Disney actually wanted to build in New Orleans.

quote:

The daughter of Walt Disney passed away. Diane Disney was quite the influence on her father. So much in fact, that he credits her with inspiring him to build Disneyland in California, and eventually Disney World in Orlando. Funny thing is, Walt wanted Disney World to be in metro New Orleans, on the North Shore.

The Disney Corporation was already lining up parcels of property on New Orleans’ North Shore for their second park. The then little town of Orlando, Florida offered Disney everything while Louisiana’s politicians demanded everything. After a while, Walt Disney realized Orlando would always “give” to him and his company, while New Orleans and its seedy leaders would always be asking for something. Florida offered Disney major incentives while Louisiana had its hand out. The savvy Disney went to Florida and the rest is history.

This guy from Houma certainly thinks so:
Bon Temps Resort

Dude has been taking money in exchange for "shares" in the park for years now and promising ground breaking soon but in reality has nothing. It's nuts.

Because he wouldn't go along with corrupt politicians.

true. Though many guessed correctly and the price went way up.

I don't know about "wanted" - but they looked at several places in "middle" America because Walt wanted it more centrally located. The population concentration was still largely bicoastal and the infrastructure just wasn't here yet, but they looked at several places along what is now the I-12 corridor and Mobile, Alabama, they looked in Central Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas - a number of places.

Heck, just in Florida, they looked at Miami-Dade, Ocala and other possible locations.

Even Walt had enough foresight to see that the NS >>>> NOLA.

No. Louisiana would be better suited in building a Schlitterbahn.
