On the bright side, he won't have to listen to his girlfriend tell him how she was right.

Cole said the fang marks were 3/4 of an inch wide, which indicated to him it was not a large snake

That's why he died... Adolescent/baby water moccasins bite you repeatedly and can't control the amount of poison they inject in their bite victims so they tend to over do it... They're much more dangerous than adult cotton mouths.

Point of my post was further disproving the notion that snakes don't bite under water

Was there something preventing the girlfriend from calling 911?

You don't necessarily have to go to the dr. if bitten

Those snake bite kits they sale at stores work just as well

Cottonmouth will absolutely positively without hesitation bite you underwater.

Not even sure where the myth came from that there could be any outcome otherwise.

I think these idiots meant that a snake couldn't strike under water.

I remember hearing a girl saying that on the bus to go tubing one time, and people in my group argued with her group over it. She refused to believe the snakes inject the venom from the teeth like needles, and not from the spit.

"raises hand"

I was drunk and thought I had stepped on a stick, which popped up and hit my leg. Not really refusing medical attention, just drunkenly aware I needed it. I did go the next morning.

I remember hearing this when I was young. They'll drown if they bite you underwater. I was 10 and thought that was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. I was in a little aluminum boat and one fell out a tree in to the water barely missing the boat. If they can fricking fly I'm sure they can bite under water

I still believe a copperhead chased me for 100 feet while on a camping trip in 8th grade.

My legs were so cut up from pickers, I bet I ran a 1/4 mile from that thing.

I don't test what people think they know when it comes to a dang poisonous snake.

I thought I may have been married to such an idiot. He has no fear of gators, snakes, etc. He will not go to the doctor even when he needs stitches, he just pours alcohol on it an keeps working. So I had to ask him about this snake issue (cuz asking him bizarre questions is one thing I do well). Me: Can a snake bite you under water? Him : Yep Me: Would you go to the hospital if you got bit? Him: Yeah. Why are u asking me this? Me: A dude got bit twice but didn't go to the hospital and he died. If you got bit and told me you wouldn't go to the hospital, i would just shoot you in your leg and they could treat the snakebite while they dug the bullet out at the ER. You could thank me later by paying the bail cuz I'd be in jail for shooting ur stupid arse. Him: You are crazy. Me: Yeah, I know. The whole town thinks I'm crazy. They told me so when they heard I married you. I think I could get off the charges for shooting u by using the the insanity defense. Him:You've given this some thought there, haven't u? Me: Yeah babe, I got u covered.

You sound like a good woman married to an arse. I'd ask you if you fooled around , but you're a ginger. I don't need any more crazy in my life.

Or soul stealing.

and now his GF will never forgive herself for not forcing him.

Also: I read some where that the anti-venom for a coral snake bite, is not freely available at any hospital USA ER. Anybody else hear/can verify this?
