Anyone have a ballpark amt I’m looking at to have my 16 yr old’s wisdom teeth extracted by oral surgeon...not sure if health ins covers any of it. We don’t have dental ins.

They charge extra for dry sockets, try to avoid those.

If they are impacted, your medical insurance may cover it (subject to your deductible and co-insurance).

This. Mine were impacted. What my medical insurance didn't cover, my dental insurance did. Because of that...didn't cost me a penny.

No way to know without x-rays. Are they bony impacted or just soft tissue impacted? How close are they to the nerve? Will it require sutures? After just follow post-op instructions and do not smoke!

How much were your insurance premiums? (Sorry. Had to make a small point here)

$200 for my with insurance. All 4 were removed.
I see you said you have no insurance. If it can wait until you get insurance than wait. If you can't get dental insurance, start saving. If his teeth aren't bothering him, and it's a recommendation I wouldn't worry right now

My health insurance covered mine because the surgeon was able and willing to write it in a way that the Insurance would pay. I think the "price" was around 1200 and I was eating steak the next night and had zero pain throughout the experience.

The surgeon is in Slidel but I cant remember his name but he was really good!

I just paid $800 for one tooth 2-3 weeks ago. Out of network cash price I believe.

I think it was $450 for extraction, $350 for anesthesia. Mine was impacted (growing sideways barely breaking the skin)

Health insurance doesn't cover. Call Richard Akin and ask how much. They will tell you over the phone about.

But I'll say this-it is not cheap. I have plenty of experience writing these checks.

ETA mine are implants not wisdom. Had those done many years ago when parents paid for such things therefore cost never even occurred to me.

When I had mine pulled, the dentist asked me if I had insurance or not. I didn't and he gave me a price. Out of interest, I asked him why he wanted to know if I had insurance and he told me the cost was different. With insurance, it would have been $3200 charged to insurance. He told me most would pay 40-50% if you're lucky. My cost without, $150 each. Dental insurance is the biggest scam out there unless you just have chronic dental issues.
